Our story begins in a ghost town
Once a bustling rail town with a population of more than 1,500, Ingersoll was known as a "sinful" town boasting seven licensed saloons and two pool halls. Now more than a century later, the rail stop and saloons are long gone; but there is still one sinful pleasure to be found in Ingersoll - the BBQ.
Owner Debra Engle opened the Smok-Shak in 1985. The oil field bust had left her with an old Pizza Hut building and a plot of land in a little ole ghost town on Highway 64. Looking for a way to make ends meet, Debbie decided to relocate the old building to Ingersoll and open a BBQ joint. With a little luck - and a lot of blood, sweat, and tears - she did just that.
Now more than 30 years later the Smok-Shak is still serving up the finger-lickin' BBQ that our customers have come to know and love. Next time you're passin' by plan to stop in. We love makin' new friends; and you'll be glad you did.
Planning an event? Skip the stress and leave the cookin' to us! With our full service catering trailer we can bring your favorite BBQ wherever you are, from the board room to the oil field. Have a hankerin' for something other than BBQ? No problem. We can customize a menu just for you!

what folks are sayin'
Treat others as you want to be treated. The Golden Rule - and we live by it. We strive everyday to put the best we have into all we do. We know you can't please all the people all the time, but that's our goal. In our more than 30 years we've seen restaurant after restaurant come and go - and we're still here kickin' because we follow that simple golden rule. We could go on tootin' our own horn, but that's not polite. So don't just take it from us....listen to what our customers are saying:
